Please Read These Instructions Carefully
Subject to certain limited exclusions, you are a person or entity eligible to register/submit a claim for a Settlement Payment if:
- You owned or leased, on June 9, 2017, a Subject Vehicle (BMW Subject Vehicles, Mazda Subject Vehicles, Subaru Subject Vehicles, Toyota Subject Vehicles), or if you owned or leased, on September 19, 2017, a Subject Vehicle (Honda Subject Vehicles, Nissan Subject Vehicles) distributed for sale or lease in the United States or its territories or possessions, AND you bring or have brought your Subject Vehicle to a dealership for the manufacturer of the Subject Vehicle for the Takata Airbag Recall Remedy; or
You owned or leased, on September 5, 2018, a Subject Vehicle (Ford Subject Vehicles) distributed for sale or lease in the lease in the United States or its territories or possessions, AND you bring or have brought your Subject Vehicle to a dealership for the manufacturer of the Subject Vehicle for the Takata Airbag Recall Remedy; or
You owned or leased, on November 10, 2021, a Subject Vehicle (Volkswagen Subject Vehicles) distributed for sale or lease in the United States or its territories or possessions, AND you bring or have brought your Subject Vehicle to a Volkswagen or Audi dealership for the Takata Airbag Recall Remedy; or
- You sold, or returned pursuant to a lease, a Subject Vehicle (BMW Subject Vehicles, Mazda Subject Vehicles, Subaru Subject Vehicles, Toyota Subject Vehicles) distributed for sale or lease in the United States or its territories or possessions after April 11, 2013, and before June 9, 2017, if the Subject Vehicle was recalled prior to June 9, 2017; or
You sold, or returned pursuant to a lease, a Subject Vehicle (Nissan Subject Vehicles) distributed for sale or lease in the United States or its territories or possessions after April 11, 2013, and before September 19, 2017, if the Subject Vehicle was recalled prior to September 19, 2017; or
You sold, or returned pursuant to a lease, a Subject Vehicle (Honda Subject Vehicles) distributed for sale or lease in the United States or its territories or possessions after November 11, 2008, and before September 19, 2017, if the Subject Vehicle was recalled prior to September 19, 2017.
You sold, or returned pursuant to a lease, a Subject Vehicle (Ford Subject Vehicles) distributed for sale or lease in the Unites States or its territories or possessions after June 19, 2014, and before September 5, 2018.
You sold or returned, pursuant to a lease, a Subject Vehicle (Volkswagen Subject Vehicles) distributed for sale or lease in the United States or its territories or possessions after February 9, 2016, and before November 10, 2021.
To register/submit a claim for a Settlement Payment, you must either:
- Submit an electronic Registration/Claim Form online by clicking "Check Your Eligibility and Start a Registration/Claim Form” below (online registration will result in expedited processing); or
- Submit a completed paper Registration/Claim Form along with any required documentation by U.S. Mail or email to:

The deadline for submitting a Registration/Claim Form is as follows:
- For BMW, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, if you sold or returned, pursuant to a lease, a Subject Vehicle after April 11, 2013 (BMW, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota), or November 11, 2008 (Honda), and before June 9, 2017 (BMW, Mazda, Subaru, Toyota), or September 19, 2017 (Honda, Nissan), and your vehicle was recalled under the Takata Airbag Inflator Recall prior to June 9, 2017 (BMW, Mazda, Subaru, Toyota), or September 19, 2017 (Honda, Nissan), you have one year from the date that the Settlement becomes final (the “Effective Date”) to submit a Registration/Claim Form.
- For the BMW, Mazda, Subaru, and Toyota Settlements, the Effective Date is July, 30, 2018. The Registration/Claim submission deadline is July 29, 2019, for those Settlements.
- For the Honda and Nissan Settlements, the Effective Date is July 31, 2018. The Registration/Claim submission deadline is July 30, 2019, for those Settlements.
For Ford, if you sold or returned, pursuant to a lease, a Subject Vehicle after June 19, 2014, and before September 5, 2018, you have one year from the date that the Settlement becomes final (the “Effective Date”) to submit a Registration/Claim Form.
- For Ford, the Effective Date is March 9, 2019. The Registration/Claim submission deadline is March 9, 2020, for those Settlements.
For VW, if you sold or returned, pursuant to a lease, a Subject Vehicle after February 9, 2016, and before November 10, 2021, you have one year from the date that the Settlement becomes final (the “Effective Date”) to submit a Registration/Claim Form.
- For BMW, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota if you owned or leased a Subject Vehicle on June 9, 2017 (BMW, Mazda, Subaru, Toyota), or September 19, 2017 (Honda, Nissan), the deadline for submitting a Registration/Claim Form is one year after the Effective Date, or one year after the date the Recall Remedy is performed on your Subject Vehicle, whichever is later, until the Final Registration/Claim Deadline is reached.
For Ford, if you owned or leased a Subject Vehicle on September 5, 2018, the deadline for submitting a Registration/Claim Form is one year after the Effective Date, or one year after the date the Recall Remedy is performed on your Subject Vehicle, whichever is later, until the Final Registration/Claim Deadline is reached.
For VW, if you owned or leased a Subject Vehicle on November 10, 2021, the deadline for submitting a Registration/Claim Form is one year after the Effective Date, or one year after the date the Recall Remedy is performed on your Subject Vehicle, whichever is later, until the Final Registration/Claim Deadline is reached.
Important: For BMW, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, no Registration/Claim Forms may be submitted after the Final Registration/Claim deadline of August 2, 2022.
The Effective Date and the Final Registration/Claim deadline for the Ford and Volkswagen/Audi Settlements is not yet known, but will be posted prominently on this Settlement website when available.
If you are or were the registered owner or lessee of more than one Subject Vehicle, you must submit a separate Registration/Claim Form for each Subject Vehicle to obtain a separate out-of-pocket Settlement Payment for each Recall Remedy performed, or after requesting and while awaiting the Recall Remedy, on each Subject Vehicle you own(ed) or lease(d). However, claims for unreimbursed expenses cannot be duplicative.
If you are filing claims on behalf of a third-party client or have a substantial amount of vehicles, please do not complete this form. Instead, send an email to info@AutoAirbagSettlement.com, with your name, contact information, and state that you would like more information on how to submit a “Fleet Claim”. One of our processing agents will respond and be in contact with you.
Capitalized terms in the Form have the same meaning as provided in the Settlement Agreements ( BMW Settlement Agreement, Ford Settlement Agreement, Honda Settlement Agreement, Mazda Settlement Agreement, Nissan Settlement Agreement, Subaru Settlement Agreement, Toyota Settlement Agreement, Ford Settlement Agreement, Volkswagen Settlement Agreement).
The Long Form Notices (BMW Long-Form Notice, Ford Long-Form Notice, Honda Long-Form Notice, Mazda Long-Form Notice, Nissan Long-Form Notice, Subaru Long-Form Notice, Toyota Long-Form Notice, Ford Long-Form Notice, Volkswagen Long-Form Notice), also explain key terms of the Settlement, including the definition of Effective Date.
Please provide all required information (as indicated by*) to complete and submit the Registration/Claim Form, attach supporting documentation, and sign/certify the form.
Important: If your Claim is rejected for any reason, you will be notified and given an opportunity to address any deficiencies. The Settlement Special Administrator’s decisions regarding Claims for reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses submitted by Class Members is final and cannot be appealed.
